RELÆXT concerts at Sentralen
In cooperation with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, we organize Relæxte concerts. The concerts are hush-free.

RELÆXT-concerts take place in Marmorsalen, and last for 60 minutes, including the introduction and presentation of the pieces from the conferences.
Anyone can be an audience member at a Relæxt concert, but the experiences are especially tailored to those who are more comfortable attending, or in need of, a cultural experience in a relaxed environment.
This is different at the Relæxt concerts
A concert that is marked with RELÆXT means that some adjustments have been made.
The doors to the concert hall always open one hour before the start of the concert, so you have plenty of time to find a seat in the hall.
We also make technical adjustments at a Relæxt concert. It will never be completely dark in the hall, and there will be reduced stage lighting. There will also be no stage smoke used.
You are allowed to comment, speak loudly, make noises, hiss, laugh, cry, shout or be completely silent — just as you like, during the concert. It is also allowed to go to the toilet or visit the Relæxt zone whenever you want.
You can leave the hall at any time if you wish. We leave all doors open during the concert, so you have the opportunity to enter and exit the hall as you wish.
The only thing to avoid is shushing at other audience members. RELÆXTE concerts are a hush-free zone.

All Relæxt experiences get their own visual guide
If you want to know more about the concert, you can read the visual guide, which is available further down this page, and in the program.

What is RELÆXT?
RELÆXT is based on 'Relaxed Performance' — an offering that has been developed and offered at several UK theatres since the early 1990s. Relæxt performances facilitate cultural experiences to make them more accessible to everyone, especially those who find it challenging to participate in regular performances and concerts.
RELÆXT in Norway has been developed in collaboration with the Habilitation Service for Children and Adolescents at UNN, the Norwegian Handicap Association and the Joint Organisation of Disabled Persons. The Arctic Theatre was the first to introduce this concept in this country, when they established the project RELÆXT Teater in 2020. The Northern Lights Festival, Tromsø International Film Festival, Aurora Tromsø Cinema and Arctic Philharmonic have followed suit. In Oslo, Relæxt experiences are offered at Kloden Teater, by Go Figure! Festival and Coda.

Filmmaker Terje Rafaelsen has made a documentary in RELÆXT. You can see it below.
Relaxed concert in Marmorsalen: RELÆXT
Three musicians performed a RELÆXT concert without a stage, with a grand piano on the floor, in Marmorsalen.
The chairs were arranged with ample space for wheelchairs.
The side-stage entrance was used as an alternative entrance for wheelchair users, but it was also possible to use the elevator from the main entrance.
