Komponisten György Kurtág la merke til at barn som oppdager pianoet for første gang, ofte eksperimenterer fryktløst, og både angriper og kjærtegner instrumentet. Játékok (Leker), et verk han påbegynte i 1976, fanger disse spontane møtene, her arrangert av Oliver Cuendet for en bred instrumentering.
Vågal utprøving preger også de splitter nye stykkene til Anna Berg og Øyvind Mæland. Bergs fiolinkonsert er inspirert av det vietnamesiske strengeinstrumentet dàn b?u. Det sies at dette enkle instrumentet ble funnet opp av vietnamesiske barn, i lek med en streng og en kvist. Berg transponerer instrumentets rike potensial for ornamentering til Guro Kleven Hagens delikate strengelek på fiolinen.
Øyvind Mæland er opptatt av skiftningene mellom pust og buestrøk, og andre hindringer i slike overganger som musikere oftest prøver å skjule. Han forkaster klassiske idealer, og utforsker hullenes, sprekkenes og bruddenes imperfekte poesi.

Children encountering the piano for the first time, observed composer György Kurtág, often fearlessly experiment, attack and caress it. Begun in 1976, his Játékok (Games) captures these spontaneous encounters, here arranged by Oliver Cuendet for a variety of instruments.
Mischievous instrumental explorations also characterise the brand-new works by Anna Berg and Øyvind Mæland. Berg’s (TITLE) was inspired by the Vietnamese dàn b?u. This is believed to have been invented by children, their laughter echoing through the ancient lands as they toyed with a string and a stick. Berg transposes its intricate ornamentation to the delicate strings of Guro Kleven Hagen’s violin.
Øyvind Mæland is interested in the shifts between breaths and bow strokes, and other hindering transitions which musicians usually try to cover up. Rejecting this classical ideal, he delves into minuscule instrumental holes, cracks and glitches, letting the poetry of imperfection shape the music.
