NORSK:
Kammerensemblet Cikada fortsetter ufortrødent med sin misjon for å formidle nyskapende komponister fra hele verden til det norske publikummet. I dette programmet får vi høre tre nye verker, inkludert en verdenspremiere på Into the Woodlands av Linda Catlin Smith. Skrevet spesielt for Cikada, Into the Woodlands er inspirert av turer i et skogholt, der sollyset som filtrerer gjennom løvverket skaper et vakkert spill av lys og skygge. Stykket byr på subtile endringer i lydlandskapet som reflekterer Catlin Smiths fascinasjon for harmonikk, koloritt og uventede melodiske vendinger.
Sofia Avramidous lydkunst er forankret i spektralmusikk-tradisjonen. Her betones kontraster i klangfarge, og harmonikken som stadig utvikler seg i forholdet mellom lydenes overtoner.
Stykket A Hug to Die bygger på The Pillowman av den britiske dramatikeren Martin McDonagh, en dramatisk fortelling om en forfatter som blir arrestert for forbrytelser som ligner de han selv skriver om.
Clara Iannottas musikk er både teatralsk og fysisk. echo from afar (ii) byr på en ekstremt detaljert lydverden av overtoner, ressonanser og harmonier.

Chamber ensemble Cikada continue their mission to expose Norwegian audiences to innovative composers from around the world. This programme of three recent works includes the world premiere of Into the Woodlands by Linda Catlin Smith. Written for Cikada, Into the Woodlands is inspired by walks in a beautiful wooded grove where shafts of light would suddenly pour through the canopy of leaves, creating a constant filtering of light and dark. The piece offers a subtly changing landscape which reflects Catlin Smith’s fascination with harmony, colour, and melodic twists and turns.
Sofia Avramidou’s music is anchored in the spectral music tradition, which emphasises timbre contrasts and the harmonic relationships evolving between a sound's overtones. A Hug to Die is inspired by The Pillowman by British playwright Martin McDonagh, a dramatic narrative about an author arrested for crimes resembling the ones he writes about.
Clara Iannotta is also noted for her musical theatricality, as well as the physicality of her sound. echo from afar (ii) is an obsessively detailed sound world of overtones, resonances and harmonies.
