Sommer på Sentralen is back! For the eighth year in a row, we are inviting children and families to enjoy free summer experiences, with activities and entertainment every weekend throughout the summer.

Welcome to Sommer på Sentralen
Every Saturday and Sunday, from Saturday 20th of June to Sunday 16th of August 2026, the area outside our building in Øvre Slottsgate transforms into a creative and inclusive meeting place filled with play, exploration, and memorable experiences.
Sommer på Sentralen is especially suited for children, but everyone is warmly welcome.
What can you experience?
Every weekend, Sommer på Sentralen is filled with activities, workshops, and entertainment for children and families. Here are some of the things you can experience:
Barnas Sommerverksted
Every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00–15:00, the area outside Sentralen transforms into a creative play space for children and families. Drop by whenever you like – there is plenty of room for play, exploration, and creativity!
- Drawing and colouring
- Building and playing with different materials
- Soap bubbles and outdoor activities
- Games and simple play activities
Performances and concerts
Every weekend day we offer free entertainment for children, with a variety of experiences from different performers and organizers. From concerts and theatre to clowns, storytelling, and musical adventures – there is something new to discover every weekend.
Sommer på Sentralen Programme 2026
The programme is updated continuously, and changes may occur. As summer approaches, individual event pages with more information about each event will be published.
20–21 June: Konsert med Trygve Kongshavn and band
A humorous and imaginative concert filled with play and emotions.
27 June: Improvisert eventyrteater med Plutselig Barneteater
Three hilarious actors and a brilliant pianist improvise fantastic theatre performances with help from the audience.
28 June: Miniøya presents: Du og jeg og vi 2-3-4
A musical adventure where children (and adults!) learn the art of clapping on beats 2 and 4.
Sommer på Sentralen is part of Bysommer in July
In July 2026, Sommer på Sentralen is part of Bysommer – a summer event series celebrating Oslo and the artist Lillebjørn Nilsen.
Sentralen is proud to contribute to Bysommer, organised in collaboration with SALT. All family and children’s events as part of Bysommer take place at Sentralen.

4 July: Bolbol og meg
Musical and imaginative stories from Iraq filled with play, movement, songs, and music.
5 July: Flying Seagull – Tull, tøys og magisk moro
Clowns and musicians invite children and families to a colourful day full of play and imagination.
11 July: Sirkusforestiling: Urban Circus
Welcome to world-class juggling and daring circus tricks!
12 July: Calabash Tales
A West African and griot-inspired performance inviting children into a calm and inclusive musical experience.
15–19 July: Trollmannen fra Oz
Experience a story about friendship, togetherness, and daring to be yourself, from the team behind last year's audience success Peter Pan.
Please note: This performance takes place in Marmorsalen from 12:00–13:00.
25–26 July: Raices - røtter på fremmed jord
An intimate and beautiful family performance about a child forced to leave their homeland.
1–2 August: ASTRALER
A musical theatre performance set in outer space, featuring mythical creatures and playful audience participation.
8 August: Familiekonsert med Lille Bille
Welcome to a family concert about little detectives, strange midsummer bonfire discoveries, and lots of other fun adventures.
9 August: Miniøya presents: Kniv & Gaffel
A poetic and political concert guaranteed to get your feet tapping.
15 August: Oslo Jazz Festival presenterer: Småting
A concert performance featuring humour, theatre, and specially written stories inspired by children’s everyday lives.
16 August: Kokkenes Dag 2026
On Sunday 16 August, Sentralen turns into a celebration of food! More information coming soon.
In case of bad weather
In case of bad weather, all activities will move indoors.
