Dette arrangementet samler eksperter på valg, politikk og menneskerettigheter for å diskutere hva en demokratisk gjenreisningsprosess kan innebære: hvordan gjenopprette valgintegritet og sikre frie valg, hvordan bygge opp demokratiske institusjoner på nytt, og hvordan ivareta overgangsjustis og oppreisning for ofrene. Vi ser også på rollen til sivilsamfunnet, diasporaen og det internasjonale samfunnet.

Venezuelansk journalist, aktivist og universitetsprofessor. Som generalsekretær i PROVEA – en av Venezuelas eldste og viktigste menneskerettighetsorganisasjoner – har Murillo fulgt den humanitære og politiske krisen på nært hold over mange år.

Venezuelansk jurist og statsviter med fordyping i folkerett. For tiden doktorgradsstipendiat i samfunnsvitenskap ved OsloMet, med spesialisering i migrasjonsrett, og rådgiver for NorVen Alliance.

Valgforhold og internasjonal valgobservasjon
Venezuelansk statsviter og aktivist. Han har blant annet vært regional koordinator i organisasjonen Súmate og landsekspert for Argentina ved Varieties of Democracy Institute. Er i dag rådgiver for Human Rights Foundations Tyranny Tracker-indeks.

This event brings together experts in electoral affairs, politics, and human rights to discuss what a democratic reconstruction process could look like: how to restore electoral integrity and achieve free elections, how to rebuild democratic institutions, and how to advance transitional justice and reparations for victims. We will also examine the roles of civil society, the Venezuelan diaspora, and the international community.
Venezuela’s transition is not only a national story. It is a test case for broader democratic renewal in a hemisphere shaped by interconnected authoritarian dynamics — and its lessons reach far beyond Latin America.

Human rights in Venezuela
Venezuelan journalist, activist, and university professor. As General Coordinator of PROVEA — one of Venezuela’s oldest and most significant human rights organisations — Murillo has followed the country’s humanitarian and political crisis closely for many years.

Ramón Barreto, NorVen Alliance
The role of the Venezuelan diaspora
Venezuelan lawyer and political scientist with an LL.M. in Public International Law. Currently a PhD candidate in Social Sciences at OsloMet, specialising in migration law, and a policy advisor at NorVen Alliance.

Electoral conditions and international observation
Venezuelan political scientist and activist. Co-author of Así se vota en Venezuela (2020). Former Regional Coordinator of Citizen Oversight at Súmate and Country Expert for Argentina at the Varieties of Democracy Institute. Currently a Methodology Advisor to the Human Rights Foundation’s Tyranny Tracker index.
