Four hours of stories and clay with Mexican-German ceramicist Iván Monroy Roesch.
Iván will share the pottery practice he learned from his teacher Amelia Aquino (1927–2025) in Ixtlán de Juárez, Oaxaca, Mexico. Through stories, photographs and hands-on guidance, you’ll shape your own piece entirely by hand, without a wheel, then burnish its surface with a smooth stone until it begins to shine.
Each session is taught in English, with 10 bookable places. No previous experience is needed. Clay, materials, tools and firing are included. You’ll make one medium-sized piece based in this pottery tradition.
Choose one of six workshops at Sentralen:
Friday 23 October: 10:30–14:30 or 17:30–21:30.
Saturday 24 October: 10:30–14:30 or 16:30–20:30.
Sunday 25 October: 10:30–14:30 or 16:30–20:30.
Each workshop lasts four hours, including a break after approximately two and a half hours, and may run a little longer.
Tickets are 1,500 NOK per person. The Friday morning session is 1,300 NOK throughout the booking period. For the other five sessions, tickets booked from 19 October are 1,650 NOK.
Your piece will be taken away after the workshop to dry and be fired. Collection at Sentralen is included on Saturday 21 November, 14:00–17:00, or Sunday 22 November, 16:00–19:00. The pieces will not be stored at Sentralen.
10% of every booking supports La Comalita, the community pottery school in Ixtlán.
