Sommer på Sentralen

Sommer på Sentralen is our own, free event program for children and families. Sommer på Sentralen takes place over 9 weekends. Every Saturday and Sunday from June 21st to August 16th, children can enjoy free activities and entertainment.

The events and activities will take place on Øvre Slottsgate outside the main entrance to Sentralen from 11:00 - 15:00. If the weather is bad, everything will be moved inside.

Every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm there is entertainment for children out in the street. In addition, there will be Peter Pan performances at 12:00 from July 15th to 20th and Roller Disco for the whole family on July 12th in  Marmorsalen. Sentralen Kafe sets out its food stall, so it will be possible to buy food, drinks and ice cream throughout the day.

Sommer på Sentralen becomes part of Bysommer

This year Sommer på Sentralen is a proud part of Bysommer 2025 — a tribute to Oslo, the artist Lillebjørn Nilsen and his collaborator Helge Westbye, who for a number of years invited to the annual concert series Urban summer in the middle of the joint holiday.

Through free children's events during the community holiday, Sentralen helps to carry on the legacy of Lillebjørn and celebrate the city we love so much. We take part in the collaboration with SALT, which started the new concert series Urban summer last year (2024), with artists who — in true Little Bear spirit — love Oslo.

Barnas Sommerverksted every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 — 15:00

Barnas Verksted is a regular, free weekend activity for children and families in Vinterhagen at Sentralen. Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year, children can draw, paint, paste, color, build duplo, play and read books in the reading corner under the stairs.

During Summer at Sentralen, we move Barnas Verksted out into the street outside Sentralen, and call it Barnas Sommerverksted!

The workshop is open from 11:00 to 15:00, and you can come and go as you please.

Barnas Sommerverksted is best suited for children from 2 to 6 years old, but everyone is warmly welcome!

In the workshop there will be outdoor toys and drawing tables. Kids can play chess with large chess pieces, rock with rock rings, throw horseshoes, build with wooden toys, puzzle puzzles, blow soap bubbles and draw with chalk on the playhouse. Activities vary, but there is always something fun to do. At the drawing table, children can color the mascots of Sentralen or draw exactly what they want.

We will have beach chairs that both parents and children can relax in.

Free entertainment for children every Saturday and Sunday at 13:00

In addition to Barnas Sommerverksted, there will be free entertainment every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm for the children out in the street.

There will be performances, concerts, circus shows, puppet shows and musical theater for the whole family.

Clowns and musicians invite to a colorful day full of play and imagination.

July 12th: Rollerdisco

Roller skates, glitter and disco atmosphere for the whole family in Marmorsalen.

July 12th-13th: Momodor konsert! Rocka retrolydspor for neste generasjon!

Pop, rock and everything in between — children's music with 60's and 70's inspired punch.

July 13th: Prøv Random Play Dance med Let´s goGaja!

Join us for a dance party with K-pop choreographies and lots of dance joy for anyone who wants to try.

July 15th-20th: Peter Pan

A magical and visual family performance in the Marmorsalen. Free tickets must be collected in advance.

July 26th-27th: Bydyra – en progrock-konsert for barn med Tusmørke

Three animals move from the forest to the city in a playful and dramatic concert with environmental messages.

August 2nd: Sultanens Sønn – en forestilling fra Samspill

A musical tale of a seafaring family and an encounter with the unknown.

August 3rd: Rockesock med Naboen min

Energetic and playful children's rock with humor, alien and mischievous lyrics for the whole family.

August 9th: Gammelt er Gøy en konsert med Tipptipp, tátara, ur!

A playful and interactive folk music concert for the whole family.

August 10th: Miniøya presents: Wold Wiggen

A beautiful viceregal concert with newly written Norwegian songs for the whole family.

August 16th: Riti Ritimo – en rytmisk forestilling for barn

Discover new rhythms and instruments in a playful concert experience.

August 17th: Sentralen og Sentralenmat inviterer til kokkenes dag 2025

On Sunday, August 17th, there will be a food party at Sentralen! For the very first time, Kokkenes Dag is moving into the city.
