MARIAM KHARATYAN, piano
The pianist Mariam Kharatyan presents the music of two Armenian composers - Aram Khachaturian and Komitas. In this concert, Kharatyan will play Komitas’ Seven Dances for piano Yot Par and Msho Shoror, rooted on origins of Armenian folk dances and folk instruments style. She as well will perform selected Armenian folk songs by Komitas, arranged for piano by Villy Sargsyan. From Khachaturian’s music - the Poem and Toccata for piano and V. Sargsyan’s arrangements from ballets Gayaneh and Spartacus.
This concert marks the release of the two albums - Khachaturian, Chamber Music presented by SIMAX Classics and Komitas, Shoror, by PRO MUSICA.

About Mariam Kharatyan
Kharatyan has her musical background as a classical pianist from Armenia and is a prizewinner in international piano competitions. From 2012 she has moved to Norway, in Kristiansand, where she is Assistant Professor and currently doctorate candidate at the University of Agder.
Kharatyan has collaborated with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Norway, Torun Symphony Orchestra with Anna Duczmal-Mroz, Poland, among others. She had masterclasses with Leif Ove Andsnes, Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, Jan Jiracek Von Arnim and Marianna Shirinyan. She has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Kilden Concert Hall, in Kristiansand, in National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, also in Sweden, Germany, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Belarus, and Bosnia-Hercegovina.
